F. Virago (they/them) is a genderqueer researcher whose research has always centered on gender while spanning across multiple disciplines. In 2021, they graduated from UNC Chapel Hill, where they double majored in Gender Studies and Chinese. Virago then attend Peking University for their master's, where their studies focused on gender in China. Their master's thesis documented the lived experiences of the trans community in China in coming out to their parents and negotiating filial piety. Virago has also served as a researcher for two large scale studies focused on the transgender community in China at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Beijing LGBT+. Additionally, Virago has worked for the past four years as a research assistant to a major gender studies and public health professor.
